PERSONALITY:
If you were to watch Verity in a social climate, the first thing you would notice is that she is not loud. She commands the attention of those she is speaking with, but her motions or level of speech do not scream 'look at me, be interested in me.' The female isn't shy, but she doesn't like to be put under the spotlight unnecessarily, and prefers to be the centre of attention for one person, rather than steal the limelight in a room full of people. She doesn't like everything she says to be heard in exact certainty by a lot of people, but prefers to keep them guessing, conjuring an air of mystery. The potions mistress can come off as quite aloof when speaking to people, her words often slightly confusing as far as understanding to what she is referring. It is partially her superior command of the English language which helps her achieve this cliff-hanger conversation style, partially her desire to keep some things private, keep people guessing. Her voice is naturally low, obviously not so much as to make her sound masculine, but it has a rich, gravelly quality to it which is sometimes hard to hear, especially around loud music, where it tends to get lost in the bass. This mezzo tone often creates the illusion of a quieter voice, thus making her seem more elusive.
As far as people are concerned, she tends to vary greatly. Depending upon her mood, she can be laid-back and conversational, or up-front and aggressive. The manner in which she speaks to people who she doesn't know well greatly depends on her own mood, whereas those she knows more in depth are only sometimes tainted by how she feels. Miss Du Jour doesn't believe in liking or disliking people based on rumours or opinions of others. Having said that, she won't go campaigning against you if you don't like someone you don't know, she doesn't care. However, she just remains indifferent until she forms an opinion on them. The interests and personalities of the people she likes are all so different, it is near impossible for Verity to classify the types of people she gets on with. Some people hit, some miss. It could be something as small as their voice irritates her which can lead her to avoid someone, she won't persevere or pretend to like them, she will simply ignore them, possibly give them grief if they push her buttons too much. She isn't very sensitive to those with 'normal' feelings, those who would possibly get upset at the thought of being ignored or shunned, but Vivi is a strange breed.
Extraordinarily thick-skinned and nonchalant, things that often eat away at lesser beings won't penetrate her outer shell. A glancing remark or dislike from someone barely even enters her thought process, it just doesn't bother her. She doesn't respond to any sort of cajoling, be it a head reminding her to post her schedule, or her mother threatening to ground her when she was thirteen. She never learns, something can cause her so much discomfort or put her out, but if it is harder to avoid it than do nothing in the mean time, she will just ignore it, even knowing what is coming. Her lax attitude and sometimes ignorance of responsibility or how she affects others can often lead to the irritation of her peers. Her responses often show a lack of interest, just to protect herself, or to make her life simpler. She would sooner avoid a deeply emotional conversation, even if her feelings should really be vocalised, just to save herself from any hurt. It would seem that by trying to make her life easier, she often over-complicates it in the long run, but the deatheater has a knack for pushing any unwanted feelings away from the for front of her mind, and suppressing them somewhere in the easily forgotten recesses of her brain. In some ways, she is emotionally immature, as dealing with more profound emotions can make her uneasy and anxious.
On rare occasions, she will be forced to concentrate on how she feels, rather then ignore, which is alien to her. It is in these situations that she can become vulnerable and suspicious, and show colours of her older brother. On the subject of emotions, Verity is very secretive. She deigns sharing feelings as a sign of weakness, a vulnerability to be played on, and not something she does. Crying into her pillow doesn't make her feel better about anything, nor does spilling her heart out to a girlfriend. She hates the whole movie culture of eating ice cream, watching romantic comedies and getting a hideously ugly break-up hair cut. She can be incredibly unsympathetic to more sensitive people, but its not that she doesn't have the same feelings, she just has a knack of pushing them to the back of her mind and ignoring them.
Verity is a complete charmer, it was one of the reasons she was sent to work at Hogwarts by the deatheaters. She can entrance and encapsulate people, and even if she isn't saying something particularly interesting, people seem to want to catch her every word. This is most likely because of her being half veela. While she isn't veela enough to have the ability to transform into a harpie like half-bird creature when angry, she does have the beautiful aesthetics and captivating aura. The way she moves, she speaks, the tone of her voice, it makes her virtually irresistible. Being half veela, she is obviously gifted in dance, and her movement, even when just walking, mirrors this. Overall, she is a very appetising creature. Verity is also skilled in occlumens, which means she can defend herself against mental penetration. This is a huge plus for her as a spy, as it means she can go undetected, as her thoughts are controlled.

MOTHER: vivienne cessi du jour
FATHER: alessandro caleb du jour
SIBLINGS: an older brother
OTHER FAMILY: none
HISTORY: Verity was the second child of Vivienne and Alessandro. She was a quiet child although articulated spectacularly when she did speak, and showed great intelligence. Her mother, a full Veela, gave her her beautiful looks and half of her blood line. Her father Alessandro, a pureblood wizard, gave her her intelligence and quiet temperament. She was a mature child, beautiful albeit not as bright and cheerful as some. Both of Verity's parents belonged to the deatheaters, and her father was killed when Voldermort fell, but he did have some time with his wife and children. Vivienne only supported the deatheaters, she did not actively take part in their goings on, and so was spared. Whilst alive, Alessandro, along with Vivienne, sent his children to the best junior school in the area of Monaco, where they lived. It was a private establishment, with the option of a day student or border. Her older brother had to enroll as a day student, as he often had appointments to attend in the evening, but Verity slept there. It was around this time that she began to gain her independence, finding she missed home less and less fairly quickly, until one day it no longer bothered her.
Her older brother received his letter for Hogwarts on his eleventh birthday, as expected. He was sent off, seemingly nonchalant, as his mother waved him off, stricken with worry already. A year later, in the same fashion. Verity's letter for Beauxabtons arrived. She opened it slowly, careful not to tear the paper. Reading it, she smiled lightly, seeming a little more pleased than her brother had, but still nonchalant. It wasn't her style to be exuberant or dance around the room. As she had with her brother, Vivienne took her daughter to purchase her school supplies, and she was sent off. Vivienne was less worried about Verity, she was more independent, less troubled, it seemed. She was a strong child, smart and observant. She would have no problem with Beauxbatons. She adapted well, she was a survivor. As her mother had expected, she fit in well. She was sorted into Ombrelune and began her studies. Adjusting well, she made a few close friends and excelled in arithmancy and charms. Once she had advanced a few years, she took on Occlumens, studying and practicing with vigor so to become better at it.
Verity was present at the Triwizard championship, the one that had seen Hogwarts enter two students - and the death of Cedric Diggory. Whilst enjoying the events, she found herself irritated by Harry Potter. His fame annoyed her, and he seemed too pathetic to be some sort of legend. Once the challenge was over, she returned to Beauxbatons with the rest of her school, and endured the buzz over it for the next few weeks. She graduated from Beauxbatons, doing very well in her final exams. She took a mundane job at a wand shop, and once she turned nineteen, decided to move over to England. It was there took a job at Gringott's and became aware that the deatheaters were reforming. Her life changed very little until she was twenty two, when she decided to join them. She was gladly accepted, with her father being an original member and her gifts, she was an asset. At the age of twenty six, she was selected to serve as the new charms mistress in Hogwarts, acting as a spy.
She took the job, brushing up on her charms beforehand. Verity was intelligent enough to fill the position, and, along with arithmancy, charms was her best subject. Along with her new position as professor, she became the head of house for Slytherin, a house similar to that of Ombrelune from her Beauxbaton's education. Verity expressed no interest in either side, claiming neutral so as not to appear suspicious. Although she tried to blend in, her naturally entrancing nature meant that a fair few people wanted to talk with her and get to know her. All the while, Verity remained terrified of being found out.

ROLE PLAY SAMPLE:
Breathing in the heady scent of her mahogany desk, Verity rearranged her things for the third time. She really was very picky about how her desk was set out. Mess didn't bother her, just her desk did. Her classroom had been graced with interesting adornments and rich fabrics to give it warmth. Placing both hands on her desk, she leaned forward a little, eyes casting a grey gaze over the whole classroom. There were rows of mahogany tables, all set out neatly, awaiting her first class. She had a delicious nervousness in her stomach, something she liked. Verity was nervous, but she liked it. It was exciting. She had never taught before, although she had tutored one girl in her class at Beauxbatons for about three years, and her teaching style seemed to have pleased her. She had a mezzo voice, slightly low and gravelly, so her students would have to listen carefully, but she was sure that if they did, they would enjoy the class.
Aside from Verity being part Veela, and so naturally entrancing, when she did speak, she said fairly interesting things. She was witty and hoped that her class weren't all mice, or worse, stupid. She anticipated getting on well with her class, having a fun relationship with them as well as professional. She wasn't downright silly, but she was still funny with her dry, sarcastic wit. Picking up the chalk, she turned to the board, pausing as she inhaled. She could have enchanted the chalk to write it for her, but maybe reminding herself of today's topic would get her in the mood.
Professor Du Jour
Charms
She wrote, drawing a short line under it.
First Lesson;
An introduction to Charms,
Charms are commonly juxtaposed with hexes and jinxes. While the hex has an inherent negative theme, charms are usually accompanied by a positive or light hearted outcome. However, do not make the mistake of thinking charms are a weaker form of magic. Some charms can be incredibly powerful when used correctly, and so you must take great care whilst in my class.
Today's lesson would not teach them anything as such. She would inform them of how her classroom worked, the equipment they needed for their next lesson and their books. She wanted her class to be informed and feel comfortable in the environment before throwing them into lesson. Verity told herself this was because she was caring a conscientious, but it was more likely that if her students got nervous having been made to make a feather float on the first day, and did it wrong, she would be irritated. The only professor at Hogwarts that she could remember Severus Snape, the man in charge of potions when she visited Hogwarts for the Triwizard Championship. He seemed like a terrifying man, and she was confident she wouldn't be that bad. Maybe. Picking up a pile of parchment from her desk, she went about placing one in each space on the desks. These pieces of parchment contained the reading list for the class. Nothing too hard, her first class contained first years. The only book required was 'Magical Theory' by Adalbert Waffling, with a brief direction of where to find it in the library. Moving back to her desk, she waited.
